Sinopsis :
Legendary Hong Kong producer/director Tsui Hark and filmmaker Ching Siutung combine forces in this high-flying supernatural romance classic. Ning Caichen (Leslie Cheung) is a lowly tax collector who takes refuge for the night at the spooky Lam Ro temple. There he encounters and promptly falls in love with a beautiful ghost named Nie Xiaoqian (Joey Wang). Sinopsis:
Sepulang dari Mekah, Darwis muda (Ihsan Taroreh) mengubah namanya menjadi Ahmad Dahlan. Seorang pemuda usia 21 tahun yang gelisah atas pelaksanaan syariat Islam yang melenceng ke arah Bid’ah /sesat.
Melalui Langgar / Surau nya Ahmad Dahlan (Lukman Sardi) mengawali pergerakan dengan mengubah arah kiblat yang salah di Masjid Besar Kauman yang mengakibatkan kemarahan seorang kyai penjaga tradisi, Kyai Penghulu Kamaludiningrat (Slamet Rahardjo) sehingga surau Ahmad Dahlan dirobohkan karena dianggap mengajarkan aliran sesat. Ahmad Dahlan juga di tuduh sebagai kyai Kafir hanya karena membuka sekolah yang menempatkan muridnya duduk di kursi seperti sekolah modern Belanda.
Ahmad Dahlan juga dituduh sebagai kyai Kejawen hanya karena dekat dengan lingkungan cendekiawan Jawa di Budi Utomo. Tapi tuduhan tersebut tidak membuat pemuda Kauman itu surut. Dengan ditemani isteri tercinta, Siti Walidah (Zaskia Adya Mecca) dan lima murid murid setianya : Sudja (Giring Nidji), Sangidu (Ricky Perdana), Fahrudin (Mario Irwinsyah), Hisyam (Dennis Adishwara) dan Dirjo (Abdurrahman Arif), Ahmad Dahlan membentuk organisasi Muhammadiyah dengan tujuan mendidik umat Islam agar berpikiran maju sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman.
